8/15/2019 0 Comments Harper's FerryLast week one of my sisters, my parents and I went to Harper's Ferry which is a small historic town and park near Washington, D. C. It is actually in 3 different states, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The town was very important to abolitionist John Brown during the Civil War. We toured the town a little bit and then went on a hike called Maryland Heights. It was beautiful. You could see the whole town from the top, but it was strenuous. All uphill at least 1 and a half miles and then like a half of a mile or a mile of downhill and then back again. And lots of slippery rocks. But overall it was nice. However I wasn't prepared for the strenuousness of it. ;)

8/14/2019 0 Comments Christmas Already? It seems that for some reason people in 2020 have decided that it is perfectly alright to start celebrating Christmas even before Thanksgiving. That is alright with me too. Honestly, most years I would be pretty upset about this so I started wondering why not this year? Well, personally, I think it is because this year has been "a bit" weird and it is really nice to have something normal. Something we have been celebrating for years and years and won't go away even in a weird year like 2020. Before this year, life was quite good for the average person especially in America. No wars or anything like that. Just living our life. Maybe we need Christmas more this year. We need the joy and the food and the special set-aside time to celebrate Jesus's birth.
Many Christians like to talk about how Christmas is a silly holiday. They bring up things like, "Jesus wasn't even born on December 25!" and "We should celebrate Jesus's birth all the time" and "Christmas is over-materialized" and the worst of all "Christmas is a pagan holiday!" Well, we don't know when Jesus was born so we have to pick a date. I think if we are going to celebrate our own birthdays and those of our friends and family, why not take a special day to celebrate Jesus's? I will agree that Christmas is over-materialized but it doesn't have to for you. You have the right to personally make it not all about stuff for you and your family. You don't have to do what everyone else does. And as for Christmas being a pagan holiday, Christmas literally means Christ's Mass, or Christ's celebration. That is not pagan. So although I think we need to celebrate Thanksgiving too, I don't personally have any problem with Christmas coming a little earlier this year. We need the joy. 8/13/2019 2 Comments New Kid on the BlockHi! I'm the new kid on the Weebly block!
